Legal Advocacy

Our advocates provide information and support to people as they navigate the complex legal system.

We can help with:

  • Relief from Abuse Order
  • Divorce
  • Separation or Parentage, including Parental Rights and Responsibilities
  • Child Support
  • Criminal Court proceedings such as depositions or scheduled hearings

Note: Our advocates cannot serve as expert witnesses and are not attorneys

Probation and Parole Based Advocacy

An advocate at the Department of Corrections works with survivors involved in the criminal justice system as well as the survivors of offenders who are or have been involved in the criminal justice system. The DOC advocate provides court accompaniment and advocacy surrounding divorce, custody and visitation, orders of protection and orders against stalking or sexual assault. The DOC Advocate provides case management in areas of financial need and works frequently with the Vermont Victims Compensation Program. 

Case Management

Through case management services, we provide referrals, public benefits advocacy, accompaniment to appointments, housing support, food pantry access, and a range of other services to help clients build stability in all areas of their lives.
